Collected Stories is an intimate character study of relationships and the shifting power dynamics between teacher and student. When an aspiring writer turns to her professor, a published author, for help, a new partnership is born. But what happens when the student begins to surpass her mentor? Discover how time, truth, and the challenges of their craft change both teacher and student.
That teacher-student relationship was given palpable depth on stage by County residents and professional actors Joan McBride and Melissa Paulson, who were themselves teacher and student years ago at John Abbott College’s Professional Theatre Department in Montreal.
The play ran from September 22 to October 2, 2022. Audiences appreciated the play and raved about the performances of the actors:
- "Joan and Melissa gave fabulous performances! There was such depth in those roles, and so demanding! They took all of us in the audience on a very poignant journey."
- "Thank you for a remarkable performance."
- "With a thousand small gestures you brought Ruth’s character to life brilliantly."
- "All in all a first class production."
And The County Weekly News and Belleville Intelligencer said "Two polished and professional actresses fill the stage" in Collected Stories. "There is wit and humour, jealousy and warmth. This is a forceful combination of acting talent, lovingly and beautifully presented." "This drama explores unbridled creative art, love and friendship and confidences. It is a play for true theatre fans."
